Project PagesUPDATE July 22:We have changed the layout of the project pages to a tabbed layout, with each section in it's own tab. Comments are universal, meaning, the same comments are displayed across all tabs. We think this makes the layout much better and easier to follow. We are still experimenting with these, so, suggestions will gladly be taken. The next thing I think we will try is adding pagination to the recent updates tab. We have implemented the first run of the new design for the project pages. To see what the new page looks like, visit Salesman's project page (currently our only project page, once we have more projects, more project pages will be added). The idea of a "project page" is to give the reader updates solely for the project(s) they are interested in, separate from the main page updates, and to allow reader interaction with the administrators of Quamu, and with other users. The thing I probably like most about the new project pages is the comments. Now you can easily post your opinion about anything related to that project on it's project page. You can ask us questions, reply to other commenters in a thread-like format, there's just a lot more interaction with our users than there was before. We are still tweaking these 'project pages', they are a new concept to us as well as you, and there is always room for change and improvement. If you have an idea that you think would improve the project pages, drop us a line in our forum discussion. Attempted UpgradesUPDATE July 19: The configuration of the updates can be done whilst not in maintenance mode, so we have put the site back live again. Thank you for your patience, and soon you should see some new updates to the site. Over the past few days we have attempted to do a few upgrades to the site, but they are taking longer than expected. For now we have put the site back up early, until we can get everything sorted out and ready for the new upgrades. The upgrades are mostly visual enhancements, but also allow you to access content easier and faster than our current system. Another thing we are in the process of creating is sections of the site dedicated to each of our projects. We already have project information pages, such as this one for Salesman, but we are wanting to make those better and more involved with the user, for example displaying of regular updates pertaining only to that project, user comments, project-specific polls, etc. We shouldn't have a need to put the site in maintenance mode when we are ready to implement this.
Summer UpdateIt's summer! Hope everyone is enjoying the warmth and having lots of fun! I'd like to announce a few things: 1. Improved personal messaging system, linked with the forums. 2. Progress on Salesman! I recently got the traveling part of the game working, except for the last bit that requires the cronjob in order to run. I also started working on the marketplace, which is where you would go to sell or buy cars from other players or dealerships. After that, I want to get to work on the the dealerships and contracts. Hopefully I can get done by the end of summer, that's my goal. If you or anyone you know would be willing to help, I will gladly put you on the team, provided you meet the requirements. (Complete) Forums temporarily downThe forums are temporarily down for maitence, 1-2 days while we do some upgrade work and switch the forums to a new software. UPDATE: The forums are back up again, and everything has been switched over. The private message system is also now installed on the site. More information about both of these in the forums. |
